Golden raisin, boysenberry, purple grape, milk chocolate
The Mwika North Cooperative Society was founded as a co-op in 1984 and was one of the first certified organic producer groups in the region.
Inglewood has been purchasing coffee from the Mwika North Cooperative every season since 2018. We are proudly connected to the cooperative through a fundraising initiative that we were a part of in 2019. The initiative was to raise money for a central processing unit (CPU) for the Mwika North Cooperative as they lacked the funds to complete the build.
With a new CPU, the cooperative can now accept coffee cherries from smallholder farmers in the region, helping to reinvigorate coffee farming in the area. Since the completion of the CPU, the volume produced at Mwika has continued to grow along with the quality of the coffee. This years harvest presents a more complex flavour profile with notes of boysenberry, sweet golden raisin, purple grape and smooth milk chocolate.
