Colombia, Planadas Tolima - Espresso Roast
Colombia, Planadas Tolima - Espresso Roast
This coffee hails from the municipality of Planadas in the Tolima Department, near the Cordillera Central at the foothills of Colombia’s highest peak, Nevado del Huila.
Although most producers have relatively small plots (some of just a few acres), the terroir is favourable for the cultivation of various crops such as beans, corn, bananas, sugarcane, and off-course coffee! The growers are persistently increasing their productivity via sound agricultural practices and sustainable farming.
Each lot is harvested, pulped, and left to ferment for up to a day. After this, it is washed, milled, and dried on patios for about two weeks. The coffees are then dried in a mechanical dryer to guarantee consistency.
Origin: Planadas, Tolima
Altitude: 1500-2000 MASL
Varietal: Castillo, Caturra
Process: Washed
This roast is best suited for espresso brew methods.
