Its largest towns are Nakuru and Naivasha. The name Nakuru was derived from the Maasai word Nakurro meaning 'a place of dust storms or dusty place' in reference to the empty scrub lands around Lake Nakuru that often got whirl winds that engulfed everything in clouds of dust.
The Little Farm estate has dams and several boreholes that they use to irrigate during dry periods. The farmers also benefit from deep red soils that are rich in organic matter. This particular lot has been selected during processing as the highest quality through sorting the heaviest beans in the washing process.
