Sourced from Windrush Estate in Kiambu, in Kenya’s central highlands, this coffee is grown at 1,600 metres by the Gatatha Farmers Company, a cooperative farming coffee and tea on a former British dairy estate.

Ripe SL34 cherries are hand picked early and sorted before an overnight ferment. Once washed, the coffee is pushed back up tiled channels by hand so only the densest beans remain, then sun dried on raised beds.

Juicy pineapple leads the cup, followed by yellow nectarine and cascara tea, with bright acidity and a clean, sweet finish.

About the coffee:

  • Origin: Kiambu, Kenya
  • Altitude: 1600 MASL
  • Varietal:  SL 34
  • Process: Washed
  • Producer: Gatatha Farmers Company

Nice but not Amazing

"As far as the reserve list coffee go that I’ve had from inglewood this would be a the lower end. Don’t get me wrong still a nice cup, but the reserve coffee usually leave me with some form of wow factor. This unfortunately didn’t do that. I didn’t get much from the tasting notes either and overall underwhelming experience. Don’t mean to be harsh. I love Inglewood and order regularly and that won’t stop. Just being honest."

Just what I need from a washed coffee

"A beautifully clean and classic Ethiopian washed - exactly the kind of cup you reach for when you want clarity, elegance, and that gentle fruit‑tea interplay. Gara Agena shows restraint rather than fireworks, and that’s precisely its charm. Excellent roasting, enjoyed with a origami for a home brew. Stone fruits: Think white peach and nectarine, soft and rounded rather than punchy. Black tea: A subtle, drying finish that gives the cup shape and sophistication. Sweetness: Light, refined, almost honey‑like. Acidity: light not sharp; a refreshing lift without dominating the palate. Body: Silky, delicate, and transparent. Would buy again!"
